Jacksonville born, Los Angeles-based producer and artist Darien Bankhead — now known as Boyband — has found himself at the dawning of his career thanks to the discovery of Taz Taylor’s Internet Money. From blaring desktop speakers Boyband has always teetered the lines between electronic, pop, alternative, r&b, and hip hop. His outlet as a producer has led him down roads of “dream pop” to “goth trap” and “slow funk electro” which have all added to his experimental sound as an artist. From Boyband you will get an unflinchingly honest songwriting style that seems to be the new standard of his experimentation.

His music moves fluidly across styles, from rap-driven tracks to darker, guitar-influenced projects like but it’s goth, which reimagines hip-hop through a post-punk and goth lens. This genre-bending approach gives his work an emotional, unpredictable quality, with themes centered on identity, creativity, and introspection.

Beyond his solo releases, Boyband is also an accomplished producer, having worked with major artists like Lil Nas X, Young Thug, Gunna, and Juice WRLD. A former member of Internet Money, he continues to evolve as both a performer and producer, representing a new wave of artists pushing hip-hop into more experimental territory.
