We have enterered into a Worldwide administration deal with rapper/composer Guru (real name Keith Elam), who first rose to prominence as the "lyrical half" of the hip-hop duo Gang Starr, one of the first outfits that attempted to fuse jazz with rap. Guru launched his own solo career, issuing Jazzmatazz Vol. 1 in 1993, and is ready to drop his newest release, ‘Jazzmatazz 4’ early this year. The albums have featured guest appearances by the likes of Roy Ayers, Donald Byrd, and N’Dea Davenport, Ramsey Lewis, Branford Marsalis, members of Jamiroquai, and the latest edition will feature Bob James, Common, and others. Despite his solo career, Guru has remained true to Gang Starr all along, continuing to contribute to such further albums as 1994' ‘Hard To Earn’ and 1998's ‘Moment of Truth’. Five years after his second solo outing appeared, ‘Streetsoul’ was issued in 2000, which again featured a stellar cast of supporting characters: Herbie Hancokc, Isaac Hayes, The Roots, Erykah Badu, and Macy Gray. Wasting little time, Guru returned directly back to the recording studio, issuing a follow-up one year later, ‘Baldhead Slick & da Click. In addition to the aforementioned artists, Guru has collaborated with some of rap music's best-known producers, including fellow Gang Starr member DJ Premier, Pete Rock, Alchemist, Ayatollah, and DJ Spinna, as well as Ice T, Naughty By Nature’s Treach, and Killah Priest. In 2005, he dropped ‘Guru: Version 7.0 The Street Scriptures’, which also featured Styles P, Jaguar Wright, and B Real. Guru’s works are being administered through our Roynet Music (Ascap) account.

In addition to signing Guru, we’re also signed writing partner / producer, Solar (John Mosher). Solar who produced the entire ‘Guru: Version 7.0 The Street Scriptures’ release, returns to produce on the upcoming ‘Jazzmatazz 4’ album, as well as stepping out from behind the boards to feature on a few songs. We’re pleased that Solar has elected to join our company, and we look forward to a long working relationship.
