January 1, 2004 Artist/writer/producer, Larry Muggerud p/k/a DJ Muggs has inked a new administration agreement with The Network to control his Soul Assassins Music (ASCAP) catalog. California based Muggs has remained a formidable and recognized rap producer because of his work with Cypress Hill and his series of collaborative solo albums. Fame came quickly for the California-by-way-of-New York producer, as he scored runaway hits right off the bat with House of Pain ("Jump Around") and Ice Cube ("Check Yo Self"), as well as with his group, Cypress Hill. He then emerged with Muggs Presents the Soul Assassins, Chapter I (1997), an album laden with many various major-label rappers, including Goodie Mob, KRS-One, Mobb Deep, and RZA and GZA of the Wu-Tang Clan. After three more years, Muggs returned with Chapter II, another guest-laden album featuring several big names. His debut Anti release, Dust, bore little resemblance to his past work, which had been dark hip-hop, instead veering toward trip-hop à la Massive Attack and Tricky. He meanwhile continued to work with Cypress Hill, who had begun integrating rock into their music and experienced new success as a result. Muggs proves one thing over and over, he’s open to change and doesn’t stand still. Boutique publisher McJames Music, will be administered by The Royalty Network in North American territory. The writing team of Steve McClintock and Tim James have been responsible for hit material by Tiffany, Juice Newton, ATC, and Nelson, to name a few, and remain very active today writing and collaborating. Hip-Hopper, Samuel Garcia (p/k/a Triple Seis), has joined the Royalty Network. He’s currently putting the finishing touches on his solo album, due on the streets by Mid-year. Christopher Smith, p/k/a Hawkeye, has signed a worldwide deal with The Royalty Network. Hawkeye is one of dancehall’s most prolific artists. Hawkeye’s career is moving at the speed of light. And 2003 is quickly becoming hailed as Hawkeye’s most prosperous year. Currently, Hawkeye appears alongside Phife of the legendary Hip Hop act A tribe Called quest on the smash single “Diggy Dialect.” The collaboration is being billed as one of Hip Hop/Reggae finest products in 2003. As the single’s popularity soars among Hip Hop and Reggae fans, a promotional tour is ongoing and a music video is forthcoming. Earlier this year, Hawkeye celebrated the release of his debut album Bubble and Wine on the Twingy Twanga imprint. Respectively, the single “Bubble and Wine” catapulted to success in 2002, as it had the infamous Diwali riddim as a backdrop. “Arrest Mi Officer” one of his hits, was top choice on the dancehall circuit in New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Washington D.C. and Florida. During this time, Hawkeye unleashed such memorable tunes as “Beg Fi Him,” “Ooh Aah Aah,” “Man A Bad Man” and more. Since November of 2002 the Dj has been under new management, which is Nadine Burton of Twingy Twanga Production, they also do booking for artistes such as Alozade, Zumjay and Lukie D.
