 | THE ETTES
Rock-and-roll gypsies THE ETTES are back with DO YOU WANT POWER, the third LP from the revved up and relentless rock trio of Coco Hames (vocals, guitar), Jem Cohen (bass) and Poni Silver (drums, fashion).
Fresh off their tour with the Grammy and Brit Award winning Kings of Leon, and the release of their raw, Dan Auerbach-produced DANGER IS EP, THE ETTES invited Memphis-based garage legend Greg Cartwright (Jay Reatard, Mary Weiss, Oblivions) to produce DO YOU WANT POWER. Recorded in their new hometown of Nashville, the album was completed in a marathon five-day session and finds the band putting song craft at the forefront without sacrificing their exquisitely satisfying sonic assault.
Insistent and irresistible, DO YOU WANT POWER sees THE ETTES charging into new territory with a revitalized, wall-of-sound collection of 13 tracks, including a co-write with Cartwright, that range from the ‘60s Girl Pop of “I Can Be Your Lover (But I Can’t Be Your Baby)” to the explosive “No Home.”

THE ETTES’ new tracks are the creative leap fans have been waiting for and perfectly capture the band’s diverse musical loves -- early punk anthems, ‘60s pop and country (think Patsy Cline and Nancy Sinatra embracing ‘70s NYC punk).
Catch THE ETTES on the move in the US in August, Europe in September and back to North America from October through November 2009.
Also, listen for THE ETTES’ music in upcoming episodes of HBO’s Entourage as well as Drew Barrymore’s directorial debut, the rock n’ roller derby flick, Whip it!
